Michael’s Weight Loss Story
A year ago this month I made the biggest/scariest decision of my life. I decided I was tired of being fat. I decided I was tired of being miserable and stuck in my ways. I decided to FINALLY get healthy. December 2015 I got onto a scale and I’ll never forget those numbers…395…395 pounds. I looked myself in the mirror and told myself “you will never be 400 pounds.” I made a promise to myself to myself to become not only a healthier person, but a better person. After a long thought process and research I decided to receive the Gastric sleeve.
1 year ago this month I was rolled into an operating room weighing 363 pounds. I stand here today weighing 185 pounds. WOW. The lightest I remember being is 220 pounds in 8TH GRADE! I can’t believe in one year how different everything is. I couldn’t walk into a store and buy a shirt off the rack. When I was in a room I was the fattest guy there…there are things I couldn’t even do with my friends like go to amusement parks, go on hikes or adventures because I couldn’t keep up or fit on a ride. I didn’t even like going out to eat because I was embarrassed I wouldn’t fit in a booth. That person is gone now. The main reason I made this decision is one day I want to be a father, and all I want to do is set a good example for my kids and there is no way I could have done that at 400 pounds.
A SPECIAL thanks to Dr. Alexander Abkin and his team at Advanced Laparoscopic Surgeons of Morris for being beyond professional through this process with me. I wake up in the morning now and I feel like I finally have a purpose, I finally look forward to what the day brings.
I have my life back.
