Step 1 - Register for a Free Bariatric Surgery Seminar in NJ

In order to make an informed decision, your initial step is to attend a FREE Bariatric Surgery seminar. Our new patient seminars are held every week in Florham Park, New Brunswick, Teaneck, and Mount Olive, NJ. At the end of the seminar you will be able to schedule a consultation with the Bariatric Surgeon of your choice.

  • Meet the surgeons and ask questions

  • Hear stories from patients who have already undergone bariatric surgery with ALS

  • Learn how to obtain authorization from your insurance company.

  • Determine if weight loss surgery is the right choice for you?

Step 2 - Call insurance company

Call your insurance company and ensure you have coverage for bariatric surgery. Ask if you have EXCLUSIONS to weight loss surgery, bariatric surgery, obesity surgery or a specific weight loss procedure. Exclusions mean that your insurance carrier does not cover the procedure. if your policy does have exclusions to bariatric surgery, please contact us to discuss alternative options. If you do not have exclusions, our team of experienced insurance specialists will advise you of what is required to obtain pre authorization for your procedure.

Step 3 - Consultation with Surgeon

At the end of the seminar, you will be able to schedule a consultation with the Bariatric Surgeon of your choice.

Step 5 - Medical Evaluations

In order to proceed for surgery you may need all or some of the evaluations below:

  • Psychological Evaluation

  • Nutritional Evaluation

  • EGD within six months prior to surgery

  • 6 Months Notes (your insurance may require 6 months of participation in a medically supervised weight loss management program in order to obtain approval)

  • Primary Care Physician Letter of Medical Necessity

  • Blood Work

  • Clearances

    • Cardiologist

    • Gynecologist

    • Endocrinologist

    • Primary Care Physician

    • Hematologist

    • Gastroenterologist

    • Pulmonary

    • Other Clearances as needed

Step 6 - Schedule Your Surgery

Once you have completed your preoperative requirements, you can schedule your surgical procedure. CLICK HERE to request a surgery date online.

Step 7 - Preoperative Appointment (Final Visit Before Surgery)

  • You will have the ability to answer any and all last minute questions.

  • You will receive your pre operative instructions and hospital consents.

  • You will receive your post-operative diet plan.
